Johnson C. Smith Women Move to #8 in Regional Rankings

Seventh year head coach Vanessa Taylor has guided her team to an 8th place slot in the latest NCAA Regional Rankings

Feb. 6, 2008

The Johnson C. Smith University Lady Golden Bulls (14-7, 12-6 in region) are one of two Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) schools to be regionally ranked according to the latest polls. Johnson C. Smith came in at #8 up from #10 last week. Fayetteville State is the other school coming in at the #10 slot.

On a two-game winning streak, the Lady Bulls will look to extend that mark when they face off against the Lady Trojans of Virginia State University tomorrow, February 7, 2008 at 5:30 pm in Ettrick, Va.

The NCAA Division II Women's Basketball Committee releases the top 10 teams in each of the eight regions every Wednesday through March 5, 2008. Johnson C. Smith is a member of the South Atlantic Region.

Note: The regional rankings are through games as of Feb. 3. Johnson C. Smith's overall record is 14-7 but that includes two games against Division I opponents (Winthrop University and Winston-Salem State University) which are not included in the regional rankings. Last night's win against Virginia State University will be included in next week's rankings.
