LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior shortstop Jonas Fester (Dallas, TX/Syosset (NY)) was named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Tuesday. Fester, who was a first team all-american last year, earned player of the week honors for the first time in his career.

Fester had a solid week to lead the Blue Jays to a 3-2 mark during that stretch. He started his week with a 2-for-4 performance in the win over Rutgers-Newark. Fester came off the bench in the first game of the doubleheader with Pitt-Bradford to contribute a pinch hit triple and score two runs. He followed that up with a 3-for-4 day with a double and two runs scored in the 16-1 win in game-two against Pitt-Bradford. Against a tough Cortland State team, Fester went 2-for-4 with two doubles and four RBIs. He wrapped up the week by going 3-for-4 with two RBIs and a double against Wheaton.

For the week, Fester hit .611 in five contests. Of his 11 hits, six were for extra bases including five doubles. He also scored six runs and had 10 RBIs during those contests. Fester finished with 18 total bases, a slugging percentage of 1.059 and an on base percentage of .632.

For the season, he is hitting .517 with 15 hits and 10 runs scored. Fester has six doubles and two triples to go along with 11 RBIs. He is currently on an 18-game hit streak dating back to last season. He needs five more doubles to tie the JHU and Centennial Conference record for doubles in a career (50).

Fester and the Blue Jays are back in action on Wednesday, March 19th against Williams College. First pitch is set for 11:00 a.m. MST.
