Solomon and Angeloni Named Centennial Conference Baseball Players of the Week

LANCASTER, PA - Johns Hopkins senior outfielder Jon Solomon (Fairfax, VA/Riverdale Baptist) was named the Centennial Conference Baseball Player of the Week on Monday while junior right-hander Chez Angeloni (Jenkintown, PA/La Salle University HS) was named the Centennial Conference Baseball Pitcher of the Week. The pair became the fourth and fifth Blue Jays to earn player of the week honors this year after helping Hopkins to its second straight Centennial Conference title and ninth overall.
Solomon hit .417 (5-for-12) in the three games last week. He scored five runs including the game-winner in the Centennial Conference Championship game. Solomon had nine RBIs including six in the game against Muhlenberg. He had three doubles and a home run. Solomon finished with 11 total bases and a slugging percentage of .917.
For the season, Solomon is hitting .362 with 11 doubles, two triples and five home runs.
Angeloni got the Blue Jays off to a good start in the Centennial Conference Tournament opener against Muhlenberg. He threw a complete game, his second of the season. Angeloni allowed six hits and one run in the contest; three of those hits and the run came in the first inning. He posted a 1.00 ERA for the game with one walk and six strikeouts.
Angeloni is 6-0 on the season with a 4.68 ERA. He is currently second on the team in innings pitched (42.1) and tied for second on the team in strikeouts, with 32.
Solomon, Angeloni and the rest of the Blue Jays wrap up their regular season play on Tuesday, May 6 when they host Mary Washington at 2 p.m. The Blue Jays will participate in the NCAA Regional Tournament with play slated to begin on May 14th.
