NCAA Division III College World Series Bracket Get Acrobat Reader

BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins baseball team will face Adrian College in the first round of the NCAA Division III College World Series on Friday afternoon at 1:15 p.m. CT in Appleton, WI. The Blue Jays (38-6) will be appearing in the College World Series for the just the second time in program history. Hopkins last appeared in the College World Series in 1989 when it won the NCAA South Regional.

The Blue Jays advanced to the World Series after capturing the NCAA South Regional Title with a 9-4 win over Salisbury on Saturday. Hopkins is coached by head coach Bob Babb, who is in his 29th season on the bench and earlier this season recorded the 800th win of his coaching career. The Blue Jays are led by sophomore right fielder Brian Youchak (Pittsburgh, PA/Vincentian Academy) who is hitting .500 with 57 RBIs and a team-high nine home runs. Senior center fielder Rob Pietroforte (Brooklyn, NY/Berkeley Carroll) became just the second player in school history to reach 200+ hits for his career on Saturday and is now batting .483 for the season. On the mound, the Blue Jays will turn to junior Chez Angeloni (Jenkintown, PA/La Salle College HS) and senior Ryan Kuhlman (Hicksville, NY/Bethpage). Angeloni is 7-0 with two complete games in nine starts while Kuhlman is 6-2 with a 3.44 ERA in 10 starts.

Adrian won the NCAA Mideast Regional with an 8-7 come-from-behind victory over Heidelberg. The Bulldogs enter the College World Series with a record of 34-11. Adrian is led by freshman outfielder Nate Sarkissian and sophomore outfielder Alex Cowart. Sarkissian is hitting .431 in 21 games with 17 runs batted in while Cowart is hitting the ball at a .388 clip with a team-best 15 doubles and 43 RBIs. On the mound, the Bulldogs will turn to Sarkissian, who is 5-1 with a 3.49 ERA in 10 starts.

The winner of the Hopkins/Adrian game will advance to face the winner of the Kean/Chapman game on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. The losers of both contests will face off in an elimination game on Saturday at 10 a.m.

The Division III College World Series is being held at Fox Cities Stadium. Tickets are $10 for adults and $6 for children and students. An all-tournament pass can be purchased for $30 for adults and $18 for students/children.
