Hopkins Places Third at Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship

COLLEGEVILLE, PA - The Johns Hopkins men's track and field team recorded a third place finish at the Centennial Conference Indoor Track and Field Championship this weekend. Adam Waddell was named Outstanding Field Performer for the Meet.He is the first Hopkins athlete to earn athlete of the meet honors at the indoor conference championship.
Haverford managed to win the meet, finishing with 144.5 points. After the 15th event of the meet, the men's high jump, Gettysburg and Hopkins were within three and a half points of Haverford. Haverford used a strong showing in the 3,000-meters to pull away. Gettysburg just got past Hopkins taking second place with 112 points while the Blue Jays finished with 108 points. This was the best finish for Hopkins at the conference indoor championship.
Waddell wrapped up his strong showing at the meet on Sunday. He finished fifth in the triple jump with a final leap of 12.95m. Waddell also placed third in the high jump, with a 1.86m in the finals. This was in addition to his showing on Saturday where he took second in the pole vault and took fourth in the long jump.
Peter Li placed second in the shot put for the Blue Jays with a final throw of 14.36m. The 4x400 relay team of Brahma Kumar, Christo Tait, James Walker and Gordan Mack placed third with a time of 3:29.07. Mack, Elliot Wehner, Brandon Hahn and Noah Jampol composed the 4x800 relay team that took fourth with a time of 8:06.55.
Tristan Thomas took first in the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.55 while teammate Chris Cottrell was fourth in 6.71. Thomas also took seventh in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23:14. Nate Sotuyo placed second in the 800-meters with a time of 1:57.23.
Hopkins will return to the track on March 7 at the ECAC Indoor Championships.
