CAMDEN, NJ - The Johns Hopkins women's crew team competed at the Knecht Cup in Camden, NJ this past weekend. Conditions on Saturday were perfect in the morning with no wind and flat water. On Sunday, conditions were good with a moderate tail/cross-tail wind and temperatures in the 50s.

The women's novice four boat of freshman Carolyn Pearce (Honolulu, HI/Mid-Pacific Institute), sophomore Nicole Pangborn (Johnston, RI/Mt. St. Charles Academy), freshmen Lauren Thompson (Baltimore, MD/Towson), Alexis Roy (Forked River, NJ/Lanoka Harbor) and Sam Ruff (Croton, NY/Hendrick Hudson) placed third in its heat with a time of 8:44.50. The crew then finished fifth in the second semifinal (9:09.7) and fifth in the third final (8:58.4).

The varsity four "A" boat of freshmen Beth Simmons (Arlington, VA/Yorktown) and Pia Heilmann (Coppell, TX/Phillips Academy Andover (MA)), senior Clare Blubaugh (Hickory, NC/St. Catherine's School (VA)), and junior sKatie Blumer (Stillwater, MN/Stillwater Area) and Rebecca Williamson (Burlington, Ontario/Hillfield Strathallan) placed fourth in its heat with a time of 8:45.5.

And the varsity four "B" boat of juniors Jenna Rossoff (Morristown, NJ/Morristown) and Vanessa Damm (Riverside, CT/Greenwich), sophomore Roseann Martin (Miami, FL/Felix Varela), and juniors Courtney Cunningham (Holmdel, NJ/Holmdel) and Amelia Whitman (Galesville, MD) placed fourth in its heat in 8:43.9.
 

 

Next up for Johns Hopkins is the Mid Atlantic Division III Regional Championships in York, PA on April 26.
