BALTIMORE, MD - Junior goalie Jess Buicko (Altamont, NY/Hotchkiss) was named the American Lacrosse Conference Player of the Week on Tuesday for the first time in her career.
Buicko earns the honor after helping the Blue Jays rally to defeat Penn State 10-8 in a key conference match-up last week. The junior came on in relief 8:17 into the game and made six saves while allowing only four goals over the final 51:43 as Johns Hopkins rallied from a four-goal deficit to notch the victory. Buicko added four ground balls and a caused turnover to help the Blue Jays' cause.
Johns Hopkins earned the #3 seed in this weekend's ALC Tournament and will take on the #2 seed, Vanderbilt in the second semifinal. The Blue Jays and the Commodores will square off at 2:00 pm (Central Standard Time) at Lakeside Field in Evanston, IL.
