BALTIMORE, MD - The Johns Hopkins women's tennis team was the unanimous choice to win the Centennial Conference title this season in a vote by the conference head coaches. The Blue Jays received 100 points and 10 of 11 first place votes, coaches are not allowed to vote for their own team.
Tied for second in the preseason poll are Muhlenberg and Washington College with 76 points apiece. Swarthmore came in a close fourth with one first place vote and 75 points. Dickinson rounds out the top five with 65 points. Johns Hopkins went undefeated at 10-0 last season in winning its first Centennial Conference title. The Blue Jays defeated the Shorewomen in the CC Semifinals and the Garnet in the title game.
Hopkins is currently ranked 15th in the nation and fifth in the Atlantic South by the ITA. The team opens the spring portion of its schedule on Thursday, March 13 with a 4:00 pm match at Gettysburg.
