BALTIMORE, MD - Johns Hopkins sophomore Anita Bhamidipati (Egg Harbor Township, NJ/Egg Harbor Township High School) has been selected for the NCAA Division III Women's Tennis Singles Championships. She and doubles partner, junior Brittany Matava (Denver, CO/Littleton), were selected as the third alternate for the doubles championships.
A two-time First Team All-Centennial Conference selection, Bhamidipati brings a 17-5 overall record into this weekend's NCAA Team championships. Ranked as high as ninth in the Atlantic South region this season, she has played an integral part in the most successful period in the history of Johns Hopkins women's tennis. The Blue Jays are 32-7 in her two seasons and have won back-to-back Centennial Conference titles with a 20-0 record. An All-American last season, she won a school-record 21 consecutive matches during 2007.
The singles and doubles championships will be hosted by Gustavus Adolphus College May 16-18 at the Swanson Tennis Center in Saint Peter, MN.
