July 17, 2008 KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State University Sports Information Director, Mark Toma, and the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced the hiring of Jessica Steadman as Assistant Sports Information Director. Steadman began her duties with the Owls on July 10. "We are pleased to add Jessica to our staff," said Toma. "She is a very bright, talented, professional woman who will benefit our department, the athletic program and the University." Steadman joins Toma and fellow Assistant Sports Information Director Jason Hanes as the three full-time members of the Kennesaw State sports information staff. "I look forward to being part of such a talented and hard-working staff," said Steadman. "It has been a goal of mine to work at a Division I institution and I couldn't be any more fortunate to have the opportunity to work at Kennesaw State." Steadman will serve as the primary contact for women's soccer and softball and will also assist with both the men and women's basketball programs. Prior to arriving at KSU, Steadman worked at Valdosta State University where she was the first-ever full-time assistant SID. Beginning in 2006, she served as the head of media relations for volleyball, women's basketball, men's tennis, women's tennis and softball. In addition she also worked at the NCAA Division II Football Championships and the Division II Women's Sweet Sixteen. A native of Chicago, Ill., Steadman received her undergraduate degree in Communication Arts from Benedictine University where she was a four-year letter winner in volleyball. A two-time captain, Steadman was named Defensive Player-of-the-Year and received All-Conference accolades as well as setting the single season and career digs record. While at BU, Steadman was a member of the University's newspaper, The Candor, where she was a sports writer for three years and served as the Sports Editor for two years. Upon graduation, Steadman went on to receive her Master's degree from Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, Ind. where she graduated with a Sports Administration degree in December of 2007. |
