Back to Alabama

March 4, 2008

KENNESAW, Ga.--After three games in Dothan, Ala., the Kennesaw State baseball team will travel back into the state to the west today when the Owls head to Montgomery to take on Alabama State. Game time at Paterson Field is slated for 4:00 p.m. CST.

The Owls went 0-3 at the Screentech Wiregrass Classic this past weekend, losing on consecutive days to Wake Forest, Penn State and Troy. The Owls went 2-5 during the past week with both wins coming over Atlantic Sun Conference rival Stetson.

The Owls fared well against Alabama State last season, winning both contests over the Hornets. KSU won 12-0 in seven innings last year in Montgomery on February 28, then defended its home field with a 13-5 win at Stillwell Stadium on April 24.

In the April 24 victory, Martin Baker went 5-for-5 to pace the Black and Gold attack. Baker had a double, scored four runs and stole a pair of bases in KSU's victory.

Ric Bishop currently leads the Owls in hitting with a .424 batting average. Bishop has a team-best 14 hits and an on-base percentage of .513.

After Tuesday's contest, the Owls will return to the metro Atlanta area to play rival Georgia Tech at Russ Chandler Stadium. Last season, the Owls split with the Yellow Jackets, falling in Atlanta on Opening Day in extra innings but winning the rematch at Stillwell Stadium, 6-4.

First pitch in tomorrow's contest is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. and will be the final game the Owls play until March 11.
