Robbins Rockin' Week Earns A-Sun Award

April 7, 2008

MACON, Ga.--Kennesaw State's Jacob Robbins has earned Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Week honors for the week ending April 7 as announced by the conference office. Robbins hit .500 for the week and stole his 50th career base on Sunday afternoon.

Robbins paced the Owls offense to its best week of the season. The junior was 9-of-18 from the plate for a .500 batting average while the team hit a season-best .347 in winning five straight games. The management major reached base safely to start every game during the week and scored all five times.

Against Alabama State, Robbins was 1-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored. In Wednesday's contest against Georgia Southern, Robbins was 1-for-3 with a run scored as the Owls moved to 3-0 all-time against the Eagles and KSU became the first A-Sun team in 2008 to defeat GSU.

Over the weekend series with ETSU, Robbins went 7-for-12. In game one of the doubleheader with ETSU, Robbins had three hits, scored two runs and drove in a pair. The Calhoun, Ga., native had two hits and two stolen bases with a run scored in the nightcap. On Sunday, Robbins stole two more bases to give him 50 for his career and move him within four of setting a new KSU career record.

Robbins also walked seven times during the week and had an impressive on-base percentage of .640.

This marks the second time this season that a KSU baseball player has earned a weekly award from the A-Sun. Justin Freeman was named Pitcher of the Week on March 24.

Robbins and the Owls will be back in action tomorrow afternoon at Stillwell Stadium against Presbyterian College. First pitch is scheduled for 6:00 p.m.
