Henderson Earns Second Player of the Week Honor
Jan. 29, 2008
MACON, Ga. - After helping Kennesaw State to a 2-0 record and its first win over Belmont, Lady Owls' forward Britteny Henderson has been honored with the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award as announced by the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. The honor is the second of the season for the Atlanta native after she won the accolade back on January 2. With Henderson winning the award, it marks the second time this season that the same school has taken both the men's and women's accolade in the same week as senior Ronell Wooten was recognized by the league yesterday. Henderson averaged 20.5 points and 9.5 rebounds as she led the Lady Owls to a 2-0 mark with wins over Lipscomb and Belmont. Against the Lady Bisons, the junior posted her seventh double-double of the year with a 16-point, 10-rebound performance as KSU won 56-48. Henderson followed with a career-high effort, notching 25 points and nine rebounds to help the Lady Owls to their first win over the Bruins in five tries. For the season she is averaging 13.2 points, good for eighth in the A-Sun and is second in the league with 7.9 rebounds per game. Kennesaw State will go for its fourth straight win when the squad travels to East Tennessee State for a Saturday showdown at 2:00 p.m. in Johnson City, Tennessee. |
