Third Time's a Charm: Henderson Named A-Sun POTW Again
Feb. 12, 2008
MACON, Ga. - After a pair of career highs in rebounds and points, Kennesaw State junior Britteny Henderson has been named the Atlantic Sun Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week, in an announcement made by the league office on Tuesday. This marks the third time the Atlanta native has won the award this season. She also earned the honor for the weeks of January 2 and 29. Henderson had yet another great week for the Lady Owls, arguably her best in a KSU uniform. The forward averaged 25 points and 16 rebounds in the Black and Gold's victories over Gardner-Webb and Campbell. Against GWU, Henderson posted her eighth double-double of the season with a 22-point, career-high 21-rebound effort, all while battling flu-like symptoms. Still weak from her illness, she responded two days later with an another career effort, scoring 28 points while going 11-of-13 from the floor and 6-of-6 from the charity stripe in the Lady Owls 67-55 win over the Camels. With her recent performances, Henderson has jumped to fourth in the A-Sun in scoring with 14.4 points per game, while she remains second in the league with an 8.6 rebound per contest average. The Lady Owls will return home for their final two home games of the season, beginning with an important showdown with the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles. The game will begin at 3:00 p.m. and will be "Think Pink Day", with fans being asked to wear pink and in turn will receive admission for only $2 to help support breast cancer awareness. |
