Soccer Announces '08 Opponents
May 1, 2008
KENNESAW, Ga. - Kennesaw State head women's soccer coach Rob King and the Owls have announced their opponents for the upcoming 2008 season in a statement released this afternoon by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The Owls, defending Atlantic Sun Conference regular season and tournament champions, are coming off their first appearance in the NCAA Women's Soccer National Championships and will face another competitive schedule this season. In addition to their conference opponents, the Owls 18-match slate will feature a tough non-conference schedule which includes first-time meetings with the Washington Huskies out of the Pac-10 and national-power Portland. "The trip to Washington will be quite a good test for us," commented King. "Not only from an opponent point of view, but it will also be the longest trip we'll have taken for regular season matches." Kennesaw State will play in two other tournaments, one hosted by Mercer and the other by Wofford. The Owls will face Davidson and Jacksonville State at the Mercer event while facing the host Terriers and Furman at the Wofford Tournament. In addition, the Black and Gold will host a pair of non-conference matches against Alabama A&M and the College of Charleston. The A-Sun schedule sees Kennesaw State hosting Jacksonville, North Florida, ETSU, USC Upstate and Mercer, in a rematch of the A-Sun tournament championship match. The Owls will visit the state of North Carolina to play Campbell. They will also visit Florida to battle Florida Gulf Coast and Stetson. The Black and Gold will also make a three-day trip to Nashville to square off against Belmont and Lipscomb. "We have a challenging schedule this season," said King on his 2008 slate. "While it becomes increasingly difficult to schedule teams, we are pleased to be able to play very talented and competitive teams." Kennesaw State will again host the A-Sun Women's Soccer Championships in early November at the KSU Soccer Complex. 2008 KSU Opponents Non-Conference Home Matches Away Tournaments A-Sun Home Matches A-Sun Away Matches |
