Lamar In Fifth At General Jim Hackler Championship

MURRELLS INLET, S.C. - The 25th-ranked Lamar men's golf team finished the second round of play at the General Jim Hackler Championship in a tie for fifth place at the TPC of Myrtle Beach Sunday. The Cardinals were in second-place after an opening-round 296 before shooting a 309 in the afternoon round and slipping into a tie with Wake Forest at 605. The Cardinals were paired with the Demon Deacons and North Carolina. Casey Clendenon and Russell Helson are in a tie for 14th place after posting 36-hole totals of 150. Clendenon had rounds of 74-76 and Helson shot 73-77. Hugues Joannes is tied for 16th one stroke back at 151. He was in second place after the morning round with a 71 before carding an 80, Justin Harding and Leroux Ferriera shot 78-76--154 and 80-80--160, respectively. Tournament host Coastal Carolina shot 589 and leads the 15-team field by eight over Duke at 597 and 12 over Louisville at 601. Lamar is paired with Wake Forest and Florida State, who shot 602 and is in fourth place, in Monday's final round and will send its first group off at 8:50 a.m. EDT.
