Men's Tennis Downs Prairie View A&M 7-0

BEAUMONT - The Lamar University men's tennis team made their home debut a successful one on Saturday morning, sweeping the Prairie View A&M Panthers 7-0 at the Cardinals Courts. The Cards started the match by winning the doubles point with Filip Kanczula and Maciej Bogusz taking down Andy Narido and Nicolas Bateman 8-3 at No. 1 doubles while the match at No. 3 doubles was won by default. The Cardinals pair of Tyler Cobb and Devin Harley dropped their match at No. 2 doubles to Jeremy Hubb and Jose Garcia 8-7. In singles play Mario Janjic cruised past Narido 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 while Bogusz took down Bateman 4-6, 6-4 10-2. At No. 3 singles Diego Snyder downed Garcia 6-4, 6-3, Allan Gomes blew past Hubb 6-1, 6-0 at No. 4 and David Wanja blanked Brandon Simpson 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5. The match at No. 6 singles was won by default by the Cards. The LU men, who improved to 2-4 on the year with the win, will be back in action on Saturday when they host St. Edwards's at 11 a.m. at the Cardinal Courts.
