Men's Tennis Takes Out Southern 5-2

Results

BEAUMONT - The Lamar University men's tennis team won their second straight match on Friday afternoon, taking down the Southern Jaguars 5-2 at the Cardinal Courts

The match began with the Cardinal claiming the doubles point as Filip Kanczula and Maciej Bogusz easily defeated Marlon Gichie and Tyler Chin 8-2 at No. 1 doubles while Diego Snyder and Allan Gomes took down Bino Rasedisa and Onkabetse Matong 8-4 at No. 2. The match at No. 3 was not played and was awarded to Lamar by default.

In singles play the Cardinals were led by Mario Janjic at No. 1 as he took down Rasedisa 6-2, 6-4, Allan Gomes followed suit with a 6-0, 6-2 win over Matong at No. 3 while Andres Medina picked up a 6-4, 6-2 win over Elvis Espinal at No. 4. The match at No. 6 was not played and was awarded to Lamar by default.

The Jaguars two points came from wins at No. 2 and No. 5 singles.

The Cardinals, who improve to 7-14 overall with the win, will be back in action on Sunday when they host UTSA in a pivotal Southland Conference showdown at the Cardinal Courts at 11 a.m.
