Lamar Doubles Duo Listed 25th In ITA Rankings

Feb. 21, 2008

SKILLMAN, N.J. - Lamar's men's tennis doubles team of senior Filip Kanczula and junior Maciej Bogusz have burst onto the national scene and are ranked 25th in the latest ITA Rankings which were released on Wednesday.

The Cardinal duo, who both call Wroclaw, Poland home, is 4-1 in duals this spring with an upset victory over Tulsa's top team who were ranked fifth at the time of their match on Jan. 13. This is the highest ranking for a Lamar doubles tandem according to the ITA staff.

"I'm very proud of Filip and Maciej," LU head coach Greg Davis said. "To obtain one of the highest rankings in men's tennis history at Lamar, it says a great deal about the success they have had this season and I feel if they add two more quality wins they will have a legitimate shot at making the NCAA Tournament this year."

Lamar's men's and women's teams will be in action on Friday, Feb. 22, when they play host to Alcorn State at the Cardinal Courts. First serve is set for 2 p.m. and admission is free.
