Koenck Finishes 16th at NCAA Indoor Meet
March 17, 2008
BEAUMONT - Lamar University senior Clerc Koenck closed out her indoor career in style over the weekend, placing 16th in the mile at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Randal Tyson Track Center at the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville, Ark. Koenck, a senior from Anacoco, La., ran to a 4:54.79 finish in the second heat of the prelims for a ninth place finish. After entering the meet ranked 17th, she finished a spot above that in 16th, just ahead of Sara Vaughn of Colorado. "This was a great way to cap off a wonderful indoor season," head track coach Trey Clark said. "Clerc has been outstanding since the beginning of the year when she made it to nationals in cross country in the fall. She's really making the most of her senior year." Koenck finishes the 2008 indoor season with the top four times in Southland Conference history in the mile and the second fastest 3,000-meter run time in conference history. She was named the conference Indoor Track and Field Women's Athlete of the Year and Outstanding Track Performer.
