![]() Malloy Tabbed Philadelphia Big 5 Player Of The Week

PHILADELPHIA – La Salle senior John Malloy and Penn sophomore righthander Vince Voiro have been named the Philadelphia Big 5 player and pitcher of the week, respectively, in voting conducted by the city’s head coaches and sports information offices. Malloy batted .381 (8-for-21) and extended his hitting streak to 10 games in six games this week at Campbell and at #30 VMI. He was 3-for-4 with a double and RBI on Saturday against the Keydets. The senior, who has reached base in every game this year and 32 straight games, also moved into sixth place on the school’s all-time hit list. Voiro scattered six hits and allowed one earned run to earn the no-decision in Penn’s 7-5, 10-inning win over Georgetown on Saturday. He struck out five batters and walked one. The sophomore is 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA this season The Big 5 will announce its weekly player and pitcher awards every Tuesday throughout the season. The fifth annual all-Big 5 baseball team will be announced at the end of the season.
