PHILADELPHIA - La Salle freshmen Jeff Pio (Warminster, PA/William Tennent) and Glenroy Chapman (Sicklerville, NJ/St. Augustine) were named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team, based on a vote of the league's coaches.

The pair have been an integral part of the team's improvement this year that saw the Explorers triple their win total from the prior season, post four shutouts including a 2-0 defeat of Pitt and move up in the Atlantic 10 offensive rankings.

Pio and Chapman tied for second on the team in points scored with nine apiece. Pio started 13 of 18 games he appeared in, while scoring three goals and assisting on three others. He took 29 shots, 12 of which were on goal.

Chapman, the speedy forward who could outrun most of his competition, also finished 2009 with nine points on four goals and one assist. He was second on the team in shots (38) behind teammate Ryan Richter, and 19 of those were on goal. He earned 10 starts while appearing in all 19 games.

Also featured on the All-Rookie team were: Alex Sweetin (Saint Louis), Benny Estes (Saint Louis), Thomas Lindroos (Rhode Island), Evan McCreary (Dayton), Houston Oldham (Richmond), Josh Patterson (Duquesne), Jennings Rex (Charlotte), Seth Rudolph (George Washington) and Luke Spencer (Xavier).
