Hightower Attending WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp in Tampa

The senior is one of approximately 40 players invited to the camp.

PHILADELPHIA - La Salle University Women's Basketball senior Carlene Hightower has been invited as one of approximately 40 players to attend the WNBA's Pre-Draft Camp at the University of Tampa on April 4-5.

The camp offers coaches and general managers from all 14 WNBA teams an opportunity to evaluate the top young players in advance of the 2008 WNBA Draft.  The prospects will showcase their skills and compete against one another in drills, half-court scenarios, and full-court scrimmages during three on-court sessions.

Hightower finished her final season in the Blue and Gold second in the Atlantic 10 Conference in scoring (17.0 ppg) and 13th in rebounding (6.5 rpg). She also finished in the top 15 in four other categories, including seventh in steals (1.79 spg).


 

 

She led all conference players with three 30-point games, two in A-10 games, and 12 20-point games. Her six 20-point games in the A-10 was tied for the high, which led to four A-10 Player of the Week honors, tied for the most during the 2007-08 season.

She became the first Explorer ever named A-10 First Team twice, while also becoming only the fourth Explorer in the 36-year history to register back-to-back 500-point seasons. Hightower finished her career at La Salle with her name in the top 10 all-time in 10 career categories and seven single-season categories.

The 2008 WNBA Draft presented by adidas begins at 1 PM on Wednesday, April 9 at the Innisbrook Resort and Golf Club, which is owned by Washington Mystics President and Managing Partner Sheila Johnson, in Palm Harbor, FL.
