RUSTON - Louisiana Tech plays its first home game in two weeks as the Lady Techster softball team hosts Nicholls State in a softball doubleheader Thursday starting at 3 p.m.

Tech (17-16) will host nationally-ranked Hawaii in a three-game Western Athletic Conference series this weekend with a 1 p.m. doubleheader Saturday and a 3 p.m. single game Sunday.

The Lady Techsters lost two of three at San Jose State last weekend in the WAC opening series and hope to return to the win column Thursday afternoon against the Colonels (14-17) out of the Southland Conference.

Nicholls State took two games from UL-Monroe Tuesday evening at home and continue their in-state tour by traveling to Tech.

Senior Kat Harrell leads Nicholls State with a .443 batting average while also leading the team in steals (10) and triples (3). Senior Amy Thibodeaux leads the team with 10 home runs.

Sophomore Aubrey Wood headlines Nicholls State staff with a 4-1 mark and a 1.87 earned run average.

Tech continues to be led offensively by the trio of Amberly Waits (.396, 5 HR, 26 RBI, 16 SB), Kylie Bassett (.330, 2 HR, 10 RBI) and Emma Barnes (.324, 24 runs, 8 SB).

Krissi Oliver (6-8, 2.38 ERA), Mandi Bertsch (6-4, 1.64) and Meghan Krieg (4-1, 1.42) are Tech's top trio in the circle and should see the majority of time against the Colonels.
