ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University sophomore Jason Ament has been named the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week as announced by the conference office. On Saturday at Indianapolis Ament notched an NCAA B time of 4:42.10 in a men's 500 yard freestyle victory. He finished second in the men's 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:45.91. Ament is the fourth Lewis swimmer to earn GLIAC honors this year. Freshman Kevin Coates was honored for his performance at West Virginia in October. Sophomore Jared Zimmer and freshman Deirdre Mikolajcik swept the weekly awards after Lewis' meet with Illinois Institute of Technology and Carthage College in November. The Flyers will compete at the GLIAC Championships from Feb. 13 to 16. |
