March 2, 2008 PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. - Head Coach Tim McDonough earned his first career victory in a 6-5 win over Stonehill College in game two of a doubleheader on Sunday. The Flyers dropped the opening game 10-3. In the game two victory, the Flyers scored three in the third on an RBI from junior Chris Brigham and two RBIs on a double by junior Chris McCall. Lewis added three in the sixth with two RBIs from junior Ryan Reynolds and one from freshman Ryan Koerner. Reynolds was 2-for-2 during the second game and Koerner was 2-for-4 with a run scored in addition to his RBI. Freshman Mike Vucsko was 2-for-4 with a run scored a double. Senior Tim Harmatys (1-0) earned his first victory of the year. Harmatys allowed four runs, three earned, in five innings of work. He allowed five hits and two walks while punching out two. Senior Jon Crettol earned his first save of the season, allowing one earned run and one hit in two innings of work. He didn't walk a batter and struck out two. Stonehill scored two runs in the third, two in the fifth and one in the sixth. In the opening game senior Adam Stabosz (0-1) received the loss. He pitched five innings, allowing five earned runs, eight hits, two walks while striking out two. Senior Bryan Druktenis was 2-for-2 with a walk and a run scored. Senior Mike Smith was 2-for-4 with a run scored. McCall was 1-for-3, knocking in two. Lewis stands at 1-3 on the 2008 season. The Flyers are back in action on Tuesday against Thomas Moore. |
