ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University's Brandon Dagans (Harvey, Ill.) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week. The junior guard led the Flyers to a pair of GLVC victories, including a win over 22nd-ranked Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday. In Tuesday's 88-75 win over visiting UW-Parkside, Dagans scored a game-high 22 points on 6-for-13 (.462) shooting. He also knocked down 10-of-11 (.909) free throw attempts and collected two rebounds, an assist and steal. Dagans iced Lewis' 58-55 win over Kentucky Wesleyan on Saturday in overtime. He came up with a steal and ensuing layup with 16 seconds to play in the extra session to give the Flyers their decisive three-point advantage. Dagans finished the game with 15 points, three rebounds, two assists and a steal. For the week, Dagans averaged 18.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 steals per game. He shot 44.4 percent from the field and 86.7 from the free throw line. Dagans is averaging 14.5 points, 2.8 assists and 2.7 rebounds per game this season for the Flyers. This is the second Player of the Week award of Dagans' career. He last won the accolade on Dec. 4 of last season. Lewis moved its winning streak to a season-best five straight games with the victories and clinched a berth to the GLVC Tournament. The Flyers (18-5, 11-4) will travel to UIndy on Thursday. |
