ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University head men's basketball coach Scott Trost has announced the addition of junior guard Mike Robinson (Chicago, Ill./Hales Franciscan H.S.) for the 2008-09 season. Robinson transferred to Lewis following the 2007 fall semester at EIU. A 5-foot-10, 180-pounder, Robinson started all 30 games for Panthers during the 2006-07 season. He averaged 10 points, 4.1 rebounds, 3.6 assists and 2.1 steals per game while playing a team-high 33.2 minutes per game. He set an EIU single-game record with eight steals against Louisiana Monroe and finished the season with 65 steals to rank 33rd nationally. As a freshman, he started all 27 games and was named Ohio Valley Conference Freshman of the Year. He averaged 9.6 points per game, hitting 33 shots from 3-point range, and scored in double-figures in six of first seven collegiate games. Robinson prepped for head coach Gary London at 2005 IHSA Class A state champ Chicago Hales Franciscan. A two-year starter and three-year letterwinner, Robinson averaged 15.1 points and 4.4 assists per game, shooting 49 percent from the field, 45 percent from 3-point range and 68 percent from the free throw line. He was chosen Class A second-team All-State by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, first team All-Chicago Catholic League and co-MVP of the Class A Tournament. "Mike has worked hard both on and off the court to put himself in a position to be successful here at Lewis University," Trost said. "He brings a toughness and a competitiveness that will impact our team in a positive way. We look forward to Mike being an instrumental part of our team in 2008-09." Robinson is the fourth addition to the Flyers' 2008-09 roster. He joins post Marty Strus, point guard Chris McClellan and post Matt Toth. The Flyers finished the 2007-08 season 20-11, reaching the 20-win plateau for just the 14th time in program history. |
