Kyner Helps Flyers To Victory

MILWAUKEE - Senior David Kyner set career-highs with nine kills and nine blocks in the No. 15 Flyers' 30-28, 30-24, 30-21 sweep of the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders on Tuesday evening in a non-conference match.

Game one was back and forth till the Raiders grabbed a 21-16 lead by scoring six straight points. The lead would be short lived for the Raiders. Junior Jordan Vidovic had an assist, a block assist and a solo block in a 3-0 run to tie it up at 26. With the score tied at 27 junior David Kelnhofer and Kyner recorded kills to separate the Flyers from the Raiders. Sophomore Nathan Klaas ended the game with a kill from Vidovic. The game was tied 15 teams and featured eight lead changes.

The Flyers used a four-point streak in game two to take a 10-7 lead. Lewis never looked back, winning by six.

A 6-0 run in game three turned a two-point game into a 22-14 Flyers advantage. Freshman Brian Schmidt had five kills in the third game. Lewis out-hit the Raiders .382 to .066 in the final game and .376 to .130 for the match.

Schmidt finished with eight kills and a.727 hitting percentage. Kelnhofer (11) and Klaas (10) pounded home double-digit kills. Freshman Matt Gallik had six kills and no errors.

Lewis is now 18-7 while MSOE is 7-19. The Flyers return to conference play on Friday when they host Quincy at 7 p.m.
