June 9, 2008 ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - For the third time in four years, Lewis University has set the bar for Great Lakes Valley Conference All-Academic selections. A total of 133 Flyers received Academic All-GLVC honors, given annually to student athletes who maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or achieve a 3.40 in each of their two most recent semesters. The Flyers' total was the second highest in school history and eclipsed 100 honorees for a fourth consecutive year. Lewis matched University of Indianapolis for the GLVC's highest total of recipients. Bellarmine (125) and Rockhurst (123) finished in third and fourth. Lewis teams were in the top three in the number of All-Academic selections in eight of the GLVC's 15 sports. The women's track and field (20), softball (16) and women's golf (8) teams produced the most honorees in their sports. Women's basketball (10) and women's volleyball (10) tied for second, while men's track and field (14), women's tennis (7) and men's basketball (4) ranked third in total selections. The women's tennis team was the most successful Lewis squad, placing all seven of its eligible players on the All-Academic list. Softball (16 of 21, 76 percent) was second and women's basketball (10 of 14, 71 percent) was third. Here are Lewis University's 2007-08 GLVC All-Academic honorees.
