LOCKPORT, Ill. - Junior Amy Sachs fired a career-best 75 in the first round and followed with a final-round 77 to place second among 55 golfers at the Lewis Aviator Classic, held Sunday and Monday at Prairie Bluff. Sachs tied Southern Indiana's Jess Dooley for the lowest score of round one, but Dooley shot a two-under 70 on day two to claim the tournament title. The Flyers (341-319=660) finished fifth among nine teams, placing ahead of conference foes SIU Edwardsville (666), Quincy (694) and St. Joseph's (707). Northern Kentucky (625) claimed first in the team standings with a five-stroke advantage over second-place Southern Indiana (630). Senior Jamie Siedlaczek (86-81=167) tied for 22nd. Sophomore Allison Snyder (93-78=171) and freshman Teresa Sandri (88-83=171) tied for 30th. Snyder's second round matched a career best. Freshmen Courtney Everett (86-90=176) and Sheila Connolly (85-91=176) tied for 37th, with both matching personal bests with their first-round efforts. Sophomore Carly Keeler (92-86-178) tied for 39th. Freshman Heather Poppe (91-90=181) tied for 43rd with the best two rounds her career. Sophomore Britta Halpin (94-88=182) tied for 45th after firing her career-best round on day two. Freshman Courtney Kellogg (92-92=184) finished 48th. Next up for Lewis is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship on Saturday. |
