ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Lewis University's Kelly Dianis (Hinsdale, Ill./Hinsdale Central) is the Great Lakes Valley Conference Softball Player of the Week, as announced by the conference office. Dianis, a junior shortstop for the Flyers, helped Lewis run their winning streak to nine straight games. She went 7-for-11 (.636) as the Flyers swept a pair of doubleheaders at Bellarmine and Northern Kentucky over the weekend. Dianis, on the week, posted seven RBIs, had two doubles and hit her 17th career home run which moves her within two of the Lewis career record. She was 3-for-5 with three RBIs in Lewis' 10-2 and 5-0 wins over Bellarmine on Friday. Dianis returned to go 4-for-6 with four RBIs and two doubles in the 9-1, 10-0 doubleheader sweep at Northern Kentucky on Saturday. Dianis is hitting .439 on the year with 17 RBIs, seven runs scored and four doubles. This is the third Player of the Week accolade of Dianis' career. She is the third Flyer to be honored this season and the second Flyer to receive the award in as many weeks. Lewis (18-8, 6-0 GLVC) has scored 34 runs in its last 22 innings and has gone 17-2 since opening the season 1-6. The Flyers will head to the Winona State Tournament this weekend. |
