Lewis' Great Lakes Region softball game against West Virginia Wesleyan has been suspended due to rain and lightning in the area. When the game was stopped the Flyers were batting in the bottom of the sixth with two outs and the contest tied at three. The remainder of the game will be played Thursday at 1 p.m. LIVE STATS

Before the rain came, No. 6 seed Ferris State (30-16) defeated No. 3 Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) champion Saginaw Valley State 1-0. First round games rained out Wednesday include No. 4 seed Wayne State (Mich.) (33-16) vs. No. 5 seed Indianapolis (37-26) and No. 1 SIUE against No. 8 West Virginia State.

The NCAA Division II Softball Committee selected a total of 64 teams to participate in the 2008 NCAA Division II Softball Regional Championships. Eight teams will participate at each of eight regional sites in double-elimination tournaments to determine the final eight championship participants. Winners of the Regional competitions will advance to the finals to be held in Houston, Texas, at the Division II Spring Sports Festival.
