ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Junior Michelle Wright notched her third consecutive singles win, but the Flyers fell to Southern Indiana 6-3, Friday afternoon in a Great Lakes Valley Conference match which was moved indoors due to inclement weather at the Lewis Tennis Courts. Wright notched a 6-2, 6-4 win over Sam Himes in the No. 6 singles spot. Joining Wright in the win column was junior Agata Wojciechowska who claimed a 6-2, 2-6 (11-9) win over Emily Schum in the No. 5 singles slot. It was Wojciechowska's first event of the spring. Seniors Erin Piechocinski and Melanie Sandberg teamed up for the Flyers' lone doubles win. The No. 1 duo took down Reilly Ackerman and Katie Jo Clagg by an 8-6 count. Piechocinski and Sandberg improved to 4-3 in doubles play. The Flyers (1-10, 1-6 GLVC) resume action on Saturday when they host SIU Edwardsville at 10 a.m. |
