Bisons Cannot OverCome Six Run First in Loss to Blue Raiders

Final Stats

The Bisons could not overcome a six run Blue Raiders first on Tuesday, as they were defeated by Middle Tennessee State 11-5.

Caleb Joseph got the Bisons on the board in the first with his ninth homer of the season. He only had eight all of last season.

However, the Blue Raiders got to Bisons' starter Dylan Ray in the bottom of the inning, striking for six runs on five hits. He was unable to record an out. He was relieved by Charles Williams who threw the next three innings, allowing two more runs.

The Bisons got back a run in the third on an RBI single by Justin Sanders.

Left-hander, Rex Brothers, came in to pitch the fourth, allowing another Blue Raider's run. Brothers was relieved by Taylor Merry in the fifth. Merry gave up another MTSU run to give the Blue Raiders a comfortable 10-3 lead.

Bisons' centerfielder, Allen Bolden gave the Bisons another run in the sixth, doubling home Jay Moreland, to bring the score to 10-2.

The Bisons scored two final runs in the eighth, both on an error by the Blue Raiders shortstop.

Right-hander Kyle Tognazzini gave up the final Blue Raiders run in the eighth, giving MTSU an 11-5 lead, the final.

Blake Bratcher led the Bisons on offense with three hits, while Joseph, Sanders, and Jorge Gutierrez each added two.

Ray received the loss to drop his record to 0-1. With the loss, the Bisons dropped to 17-14. They will be back in action tomorrow, Wednesday, April 9, when they welcome UT-Martin to Dugan field for a single game, starting at 6 p.m.
