Dunn earned the win to improve to 4-3

Bisons win game two 5-1; split double-header

May 3, 2008

Final Stats

For the third game in a row, the Bisons took an early lead, but this time they held onto it, as they defeated Winthrop 5-1 in game two.

Ben Williams got the Bisons on the board with an RBI single in the fifth. They added to their lead in the eighth, plating four more runs to take a 5-0 lead. Shane Simpkins got the offense going, driving in Allen Bolden to increase Lipscomb's lead to 2-0. The next batter, Ryan Wilkins gave the Bisons a more comfortable lead, drilling a three run homer to bring the score to 5-0.

Meanwhile, Bisons starter, Mike Dunn was impressive, going 6.1 innings, giving up just five hits. He was relieved by right-hander, Kyle Tognazzini in the seventh.

Winthrop finally got to Tognazzini in the eighth, plating a run to pull to within 5-1, but it was as close as they would get.

Tognazzini threw 2.2 innings, giving up one run on three hits, while striking out one.

Jay Moreland led the Bisons on offense, racking up three hits, while Williams added two, and Wilkins contributed three RBIs.

Dunn earned the win to improve to 4-3 on the season. With the win, the Bisons improved to 24-22.

Right-hander, Josh Smith, will take the mound for the Bisons in the series finale on Sunday, May 4.
