Lipscomb baseball raising funds for cancer patient

April 24, 2008

The Lipscomb University baseball games will have a special meaning this weekend.

Saturday night's game with ETSU will be will be "Justin Littrell Night at Dugan Field at Stephen L. Marsh Stadium".

Justin is the 4-year-old son of Julie and Ben Littrell. Julie teaches at Nashville Christian School.

Lipscomb is hosting the event for Western Hills Church of Christ, one of the organizations spearheading the fundraising for Justin's care. Justin receives treatment at Vanderbilt Children's Hospital where he was diagnosed with Burkitt's lymphoma in January.

Burkitt's lymphoma is cancer of the lymphatic system. Burkitt's lymphoma is classified under non-Hodgkin's lymphoma.

To read more about Justin and his journey, there is a blog/website: www.caringbridge.org/visit/jlittrell . Proceeds from the game will go to Justin's fund.

If Justin is well enough, he will be at the game to throw out the first pitch.
