Heather Collins sparks scoring drive with three-run homer in bottom of the seventh.

Iowa State narrowly beats Lady Bisons

Feb. 23, 2008

Final Stats

Nashville, Tenn. - The Lady Bison softball team split day two of the Chattanooga Challenge this afternoon, dropping a close game to Big 12 Opponent Iowa State, 6-5.

After allowing the Cyclones to get one run in the fourth inning and four runs in the top of the sixth the Lady Bisons would answer back with four of their own in the bottom of the inning.

Sophomore Christen Campbell started the scoring run with a RBI single off Rachel Zabriskie, who has thrown three no-hitters already this season.

Senior Heather Collins would come through for the Lady Bisons with a three run homer to close within one run.

After allowing one more run for the Cyclones in the top of the seventh, Abby Keese would hit a RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to draw with in one. Christen Campbell would close the inning with pop out to left field before another run could be scored.

"We played very well in this game. Iowa State just made things happen when they got on base. We put our selves in a position to win it and we should be proud of how we fought," said Lipscomb coach Kristin Peck.

The Lady Bisons drop to 4-6 on the season and play Ball State at 8:45 tomorrow morning instead of the previously scheduled Bradley.
