Lady Bisons take battle with Hatters into extra innings

March 29, 2008

Final Stats

Nashville, TN - The first game in the series between the Lipscomb softball team (13-18, 5-3 A-Sun) and the Hatters of Stetson University (29-13-1, 3-1-1 A-Sun) went into extra innings, but the Hatters came out on top in the pitchers duel, winning the game by a score of 2-1.

Sophomore Christen Campbell took the circle for the Lady Bisons and pitched all eight innings, scattering six hits and only allowing two runs.

Hatter pitcher Amanda Lindsey pitched all eight innings as well, and only allowed one run on five hits.

Campbell picked up the sole run for the Lady Bisons in the first inning when she hit a leadoff single down the middle, advanced on a sacrifice bunt by sophomore centerfielder Lauren Dortwegt, and scored on an RBI double by sophomore third baseman Kellie Sirus.

Sirus finished the game with two hits, Christen Campbell, sophomore shortstop Abby Keese, and Senior catcher Jennifer Allsup each added one hit.

The second game in the double header was postponed to Sunday on the account of heavy rain and is tentatively to be played following the conclusion of the Lipscomb Florida Gulf Coast makeup game.
