Alaina Jacobson shuts out Hatters

Final Stats

Nashville, TN - The Lady Bisons used clutch pitching from sophomore Alaina Jacobson to defeat the Hatters of Stetson University 2-0 Sunday afternoon at Draper Diamond.

The game was the second part of a doubleheader originally scheduled to be played Saturday. It was rescheduled due to heavy rains.

Jacobson, a transfer from the University of Missouri, pitched all seven innings for the Lady Bisons, allowing only two hits and striking out four batters.

The game was scoreless through the bottom of the fourth inning when sophomore designated player Kellie Sirus hit a double to left field. She advanced and eventually scored on two successive wild pitches by Hatter pitcher Amanda Lindsey.

Sophomore center fielder Lauren Dortwegt added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning when she sent a triple flying to the center field fence. She scored two batters later when Kellie Sirus grounded out to first base for the RBI.

The Lady Bisons completed the weekend with a 14-19 overall record and a 6-4 Atlantic Sun Record.

The Lady Bisons continue their home stand against Austin Peay on Tuesday night at 5 p.m. at Draper Diamond.
