Kim Jacobson goes 4-0 to earn A-Sun Pitcher of the Week

April 14, 2008

Macon, Ga. - Lipscomb pitcher Kim Jacobson went 4-0 for Lipscomb to earn the Atlantic Sun Pitcher of the Week honor, the conference announced on Monday.

Jacobson, a senior finance major from Colton, Calif., pitched her way to three conference victories as Lipscomb held onto its lead in the race for the top seed in the conference tournament. Jacobson went the distance in wins against Campbell, Tennessee Tech, Kennesaw State and Mercer while compiling a 1.00 ERA. She started and finished the work week with career-high efforts in strikeouts, fanning seven on Monday against Campbell and matching that number to shutout Kennesaw State on Friday. Sandwiched between the two conference games, Jacobson threw a two-hitter against Tennessee Tech on Wednesday. To bookend her week's work, Jacobson struck out five and gave up one earned run in a 4-2 Bisons triumph against Mercer on Saturday. She finished the week with 24 strikeouts.

The Atlantic Sun Conference is a 12-member league committed to Building Winners for Life, with a focus on academic and athletic integrity and a balance between the two for the student-athlete, and maintaining a high level of sportsmanship. Headquartered in Macon, Ga., the A-Sun encompasses six of the top eight media markets in the Southeast. The A-Sun consists of some of the most dynamic private and public institutions in the region: Belmont University, Campbell University, East Tennessee State University, Florida Gulf Coast University, Gardner-Webb University, Jacksonville University, Kennesaw State University, Lipscomb University, Mercer University, University of North Florida, University of South Carolina Upstate and Stetson University.
