A pair of shutouts over arch-rival Belmont on Wednesday secured the No. 1 seed in the 2008 Atlantic Sun Softball Championship for the Lady Bisons , the conference office announced Friday.

This is the third time in four years the Lipscomb softball squad has made the A-Sun tournament and their first time as the No. 1 seed.

The tournament is May 8-10, at Patricia Wilson Field on the campus of Stetson University in Deland, Florida. Six Atlantic Sun teams participate in the double-elimination tournament with the winner advancing to an NCAA Regional.

The Lady Bisons (26-21 Overall, 15-5 A-Sun) close out the conference portion of their schedule on Saturday against conference newcomer USC Upstate at 4 p.m. at Draper Diamond.
