Jackson earns A-Sun Player of the Week

Feb. 2, 2008

MACON, Ga. - Lipscomb freshman Kara Jackson emerged victorious in her first career dual match, notching the Lady Bisons only point in a 6-1 loss to Chattanooga last weekend.

Jackson added another first to her resume, picking up her first career Atlantic Sun Player of the Week honor the conference office announced.

The elementary education major is the first women's tennis player in school history to claim a weekly honor and the first freshman to do so since Stetson's Samantha Lange in 2006.

Jackson competed at the number two slot, and downed Chattanooga's Beata Knizat 6-3, 6-2 in just her third collegiate match.

The Dayton, Ohio native took to the court twice in the fall season, falling in straight sets on both occasions and winning a mere four games in both outings combined.

This information was provided by the Atlantic Sun Conference.
