Men's Crew Takes Third; Women Finish Fifth At MAAC Championships

West Windsor, N.J. - The Loyola men's and women's crew teams finished third and fifth respectively at the MAAC Championships on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, N.J. on Sunday afternoon. The Loyola men posted 138 points, while the women scored 101 in the final point standings.

The men posted 36 big points in their runner-up finish in the Varsity 8 race. The Greyhounds, who rowed a time of 6:49.58 in the race, bested third-place Fairfield by almost 10 seconds in the race.

Loyola's men also garnered runner-up finishes in the men's pair, the Varsity Lightweight 4, the Varsity 4 and the second Varsity 8 boats. The closest of the races being the Varsity 4, where Marist edged out the Greyhounds by four seconds.

On the women's side, the Greyhounds also took second in the Varsity 8 race. Loyola finished the course in 8:02.71 to pick up 36 team points in the event. The women 2V8 also took second, as did the women's pair.

Marist won both the men's and women's conference titles. Fairfield edged out the men for second place on the men's side, while the women finished 81 points ahead of sixth-place Manhattan.
