MINNEAPOLIS - Loyola freshman Phil Scholz swam the fastest time in the 400-meter freestyle preliminaries at the U.S. Paralympic Trials at the University of Minnesota Aquatics Center.
His time of 5:05.69 shaved over a second off his personal-best time and is the top seed fir the S11 category in tonight's final.
Scholz, a member of the Greyhounds swimming and diving team, is completely blind and working toward a place on the U.S. Paralympic Team that will compete at the Paralympics this summer in China.
