Baltimore, Md. - The Loyola men's and women's tennis teams split their Sunday afternoon matches with Mount St. Mary's as the men's team earned a 5-2 victory, while the women's team was edged out by a 4-3 score.
Loyola's men won the match with all five points coming in singles play. Senior co-captains Scott Gannon and Ben Epstein won at No. 1 and No. 2 singles respectively, each taking three-set matches.
Matt McDaniel won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, while Dan D'Agostino claimed a 6-1, 7-6(4) victory at No. 6. Senior Doug Alban, who teamed up with D'Agostino to win the No. 3 double match, also won a three-set (6-4, 4-6, 6-3) match at No. 5 singles.
On the women's side, The Mount jumped out early with the doubles point, but Stephanie Dunn (No. 5) and Andie Keyser- Baker (No. 6) won straight set matches in singles play to pull Loyola back into it.
Caitlyn Day won a grueling three-set match at No. 1, but it was another three-set match at No. 2 that decided the team victory.
