PROVIDENCE, R.I. - University of Louisville senior closer B.J. Rosenberg has been named BIG EAST Pitcher of the Week after posting a 1-0 record and earning two saves in three appearances.
Rosenberg took the hill three times in a four-day span, helping the Cardinals to a 5-0 week. UofL has won a season-high seven straight and are 15-3 in their last 18.
Overall he struck out nine in 3.1 scoreless innings, allowing just five singles. He did not walk a batter.
In an 8-7 win over WKU he entered in the ninth and allowed a harmless single, striking out the side.
On just a day of rest he entered in the ninth, again with a one run lead, and fanned two more to pick up the save against Georgetown in a 4-3 win. The following day, he tossed 1.1 innings, striking out four, picking up the win.
Since moving into the closer role, Rosenberg is 3-1 with a 1.83 ERA and five saves, striking out 27 in 19.2 IP.
The Cardinals head to Bloomington to face Indiana Tuesday at 3:00 p.m. before returning to The Ville for a single game against Butler Wednesday. Admission is free.
