WASHINGTON, D.C. - The University of Louisville lacrosse team closed the program's inaugural season on Sunday with a 20-4 win over Howard University at Greene Stadium as first-year attacker Bergan Foley led the Cards with four goals. Louisville finishes 2008 with a 12-4 record, including five straight wins to close the season.

After the host Bison scored the game's opening goal just 10 seconds into the game, the Cards answered back by scoring 17 straight goals over a span of more than 47 minutes in the 60-minute game. Foley, who led the nation in scoring entering the week at 4.23 goals per game, scored three of the Cards' first five goals. First-year midfielder Emily Dashiell and first-year attacker Liz Lovejoy added three goals each in the win.

First-year midfielder Brittany Poist, the nation's leader in caused turnovers at 3.47 per game, finished off her season with five more on Sunday taking her season's average to 3.5 per game. She also added two goals, four ground balls, two draw controls and one assist in the win.

Dashiell, ranked in the top 10 in the nation in draw controls, had four more on Sunday to take her season average to 3.37. Overall, the Cards controlled 16 of 22 draws on the day and had 18 total ground balls compared to just eight for Howard (2-11). Louisville also forced 12 of the 21 turnovers by the Bison, while only committing 12 on the day.
