LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville track and field head coach Ron Mann announced on Tuesday two additional signees to the Cards' 2008 recruiting class. Women's thrower Khadija Abdullah and men's sprinter/hurdler DaJon Booth join the Cards' previous group of eight signees announced in March set to the join program for 2008-09.

Abdullah is a native of Markham, Ill., where she attends Thornton Township High School. Her top mark in the shot put as a prep athlete is 45 feet and she also throws the discus. She was named her team's most improved athlete earlier in her prep career and she also lettered in basketball at Thornton.

Booth is a native of Toledo, Ohio, where he attends Robert Rogers High School. His top junior marks include 10.81 in the 100m, 21.72 in the 200m and 14.20 in the 110m hurdles. Earlier this year, he had a time of 8.02 in the 60m hurdles at the Nike Indoor Nationals. He is a three-year letterwinner in football at Rogers.

"Khadija and DaJon are great additions to our recruiting class and they should compliment our program very well," said Mann. "We're looking forward to getting all of our signees on campus this fall. We can expect an immediate impact from this class in what should be a wonderful 2009 track and field season for the University of Louisville."

In March, the Louisville men's track and field program added Orazio Cremona (throws) from Roodeport, South Africa, Gordon Dooley (distance) from Hebron, Ky., and Luke Lovelace (distance) from Chapin, S.C., while it was also announced that football signee Jacques Caldwell (sprinter) of Garland, Texas would also compete for the Louisville track team.

The Louisville women added Kierstan Kirkland (hurdles) of Moreno Valley, Calif., Shane Mullaney-Banks (sprints/hurdles) from Oakland, Calif., Megan Schubert (jumps) of Kokomo, Ind., and Lorna Whaley (distance) from Avon, Ind.

The 2008 Louisville track and field team will continue the outdoor season on Saturday with the program's final home meet of the year, the Cardinal Twilight. The running events are scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. ET at Cardinal Park.
