CHICAGO - The Loyola University Chicago men's and women's track and field programs had a successful weekend as the Ramblers competed at the Meyo Invitational in Norte Dame, Ind., and at the Dick Pond Invitational in Romeoville, Ill. Junior Pam Staton led the Ramblers for the second consecutive week as she set a new Loyola record in the 500m at the Meyo Invite.

Staton posted an impressive time of 1:18.56 in the 500m, which is three seconds faster than the previous school record of 1:21.28. The junior from Ingleside, Ill., had an outstanding weekend at the Meyo Invitational as she posted a time of 2:15.56 in the 800m for a 38th-place finish out of 76 competitors.

On the men's side, senior Joe Mahalick garnered a time of 1:05.19 in the men's 500m, only nine-one-hundredths of a second shy of the school record set earlier this season by Donte Prisby. The Joliet, Ill., native placed 10th out of 23 runners to lead the Rambler men.

Newcomer Sam McClain, a sophomore walk-on with freshman eligibility, set a new personal-best for himself in the 800m. The Abilene, Kan., native posted a time of 1:57.20 to place 47th out of 51 competitors.

The Loyola men garnered a time of 3:21.13 in the 4 x 400m relay, a mark that is third fastest in the Horizon League.

At the Dick Pond Invitational, the Loyola women placed 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th respectively in the 3,000m. Led by senior Amanda Domich (10:19.69), the Rambler women rounded out the first four spots as junior Genevieve Binnie (10:23.44), junior Ashley Raymond (10:30.52) and freshman Alison Rack (10:45.12) dominated the 3,000m.

The Ramblers return to action on Friday, February 15 when the Loyola women compete at the Women's Chicagoland Championships in Romeoville, Ill., and the Rambler men head to Milwaukee, Wis., for the UW-Milwaukee Triangular.
